Driving time is for a loaded vehicle including rest stops, not a car.

The Lahore to Islamabad run is a single motorway leg on the M-2, 375 km with no highway sections and no route choices to make. What shapes the day is the Salt Range. From Kallar Kahar the motorway climbs, and a fully loaded truck takes that ascent far more slowly than the car you may have driven it in. That is why we plan this as a six to seven hour drive rather than the four hours a mapping app shows, and why loading in Lahore starts early enough for the climb to happen before the afternoon heat.

The run passes Kala Shah Kaku, Pindi Bhattian, Kallar Kahar and Chakri. Delivery areas are listed alongside, and the packers and movers Islamabad page has the full list.

What is included on this route

  • A survey of what is actually moving, then a fixed, itemised price before anything is packed
  • Packing, dismantling in Lahore and reassembly at the Islamabad address
  • A vehicle booked for your consignment for the 375 km M-2 Motorway leg
  • Same day delivery, 6 to 7 hours on the road
  • Loading, unloading and room-by-room placement at the new home
  • A move coordinator on WhatsApp from booking through to delivery

Choosing the right truck size

A two or three bedroom home on this route travels comfortably on a Mazda; four bedrooms and up wants the next size. The Salt Range is the reason not to under-book here: an overloaded vehicle climbs slower still, and a second trip over 375 km costs far more than the larger truck would have. Where the Lahore pickup is in an older locality with tight lanes, we load small at the door and transfer to the intercity vehicle before the motorway.

What to expect on delivery day

Because the climb sits in the second half of the run, an early finish in Lahore is what protects the Islamabad delivery slot. Load by mid-morning and the vehicle is through Kallar Kahar by early afternoon with daylight to spare at the other end. Most Islamabad sectors are straightforward for a long vehicle, so unloading is usually the easy part of this route - the pressure is all at the Lahore end, particularly an upper-floor flat with one small lift.

What decides the price on this route

The 375 km is fixed, so distance is never what moves the quote on this route. Three things do: how much is actually moving, the floor and lift situation at both ends, and whether you want full packing or transport only. An upper-floor flat in Lahore with no lift can add more to the price than the entire drive does.

Lahore to Islamabad movers — common questions

How long does a Lahore to Islamabad move take?

Six to seven hours of driving for a loaded vehicle, plus loading and unloading at each end. It is a same-day move. We usually begin loading in Lahore early so the Salt Range climb at Kallar Kahar falls in the cooler part of the day, and so there is daylight left for unloading in Islamabad.

Why is it slower than the time my maps app shows?

Mapping apps time a car. The M-2 climbs into the Salt Range at Kallar Kahar, and a loaded truck takes that section considerably slower than a car does - roughly two hours' difference across the route. We would rather quote the real figure than promise four hours and miss it.

Can the whole move finish in one day?

Yes, this is a same-day route. What decides whether it finishes by evening is the Lahore end rather than the driving. A ground-floor pickup loads quickly; a fourth-floor flat with one small lift can add two hours before the vehicle has moved at all. Tell us the floor when you ask for a quote and the day is planned around it.

Which route does the vehicle take?

The M-2 the whole way, entering near Kala Shah Kaku and running through Pindi Bhattian, Kallar Kahar and Chakri into Islamabad. There is no national highway section on this corridor, which is why it is one of the more predictable routes we run once the load is on board.
